Today was another free day. Not much happening today except my paper work got accepted by the American Consulate (just one step closer to coming home). Tomorrow is the day we go to the Consulate and get sworn in. Unfortunately no cameras are allowed. Today we just spent around the hotel. However, this evening we went for a dinner cruise on the Pearl river. The food was typical Chinese (as you can imagine for someone that does not like Chinese food-I am getting a little tired of it, so yes I frequent McDonald’s at least once a day), but the views of the city were great. They light up many of their buildings and bridges, so it was very pretty. Darci however was a little fussy as it was almost her bedtime but on the whole she had a really good non-temper tantrum day!!

Congratulations Jackie!!! Annie told me about your blog and I have read all your posts and looked at all the pictures. Darci is just beautiful and the luckiest girl in the world:) I am just so happy for you both! I’ve shown the pictures to Donn and he is thrilled for you as well. Wow, this is so amazing to be a part of as a SWF with no kids. LOL. Darci is blessed to have you as her Mommy, what an incredible journey you will have in this life together. Have you started the college fund or should I buy more lottery tickets? I know that Etta is looking down from Heaven and dancing a jig in excitement. She loved you so much and always brought everyone who knew her joy and laughter. You are going to be an outstanding mother, because you were raised by an outstanding mother. Love you and cannot wait to see you two!!!

You are glowing in this picture Jackie. Motherhood looks good on you. It is nice to see that Diane made it back from her trip. I am also glad the paper work is going well. The swearing in tomorrow I am sure will be beyond words. I pray the next 3 days will go smoothly for you, Darci and Diane. Can’t wait to see you soon. love you guys!

Hey Jackie, I have absolutely loved reading your blog. Darci is as cute as a button. Though I’m sure it’s sometimes tough on you, I do appreciate her “sassiness.”
Through your stories and photos, I have been reliving my trip to Nanchang (14 years ago) to bring home Hannah. We have photos from the Tang Wen Pavilion (I believe that is the name) in almost the exact spot on the steps which your group was sitting. We visited a park several times during our ten days in Nanchng as well — it was directly across from the hotel. Wonder if you stayed at the same place?
Anyway, thanks for sharing your journey. It’s the beginning of a lifetime together for you and Darci. I look forward to seeing more photos and hearing more stories when you return.
Have a safe trip, Debbie

Hi Jackie……I’m back from Kay’s and have enjoyed reading the two most recent updates, and seeing all the new pictures. You’ve been great about keeping us all posted. My favorite picture of Darci is the one on the top of this page held by the purple clothespin…….so, so pensive and cute.
The city looks modern and beautiful in that picture taken on your Pearl River Cruise; I’m glad you’re getting to see the many sides of China. Whatever all those seniors are doing each day in the park bears repeating over on this side, as I didn’t see one big “bum” in sight!!!!
See you soon!
Love,

Jackie, I apologize for not responding sooner to your great experience, but I’ve been having some problems with my computer (it seems everything I am and have is getting older and not functioning optimally).
Your website and the daily updates are the next best thing to being with you. I cannot thank you and Andrew enough for making our participation possible.
Darci is definitely a gift from heaven sent by God to brighten all our lives.
Yours will never be the same and I am sure you will never regret the awesome decision you have made in becoming Darci’s mother.I agree with Agnes that Etta is very proud of you and we all know how devoted you both were to each other. You are ALREADY and will continue to be a GREAT MOTHER!
Like everyone else I’m eagerly looking forward to seeing ( if I am permitted to embrace the role) “my granddaugher.”
Again thanks for your wonderful updates and we look forward to being with you both. Love you very much, Uncle Larry.

Hey Jackie, I am going to put a stroller in the car when Sharon and I come to pick you and Darci up.
Cannot believe in 3 days, you three will be home. Anyone up for PF Chang’s? 🙂

Hi! You guys look like you are having fun! I checked your house inside and out with Layla yesterday. It was hot and I turned the thermostat down to start cooling the house a bit. Should be okay by Saturday. Hope that is okay. Let me know if you want me to change it back. I will go back tomorrow and see how it feels for you all. We are all looking forward to having you home. Everyone in the unit is asking about you all. Can’t wait. 🙂
